Can we foil and emboss at the same time?
Yes, we produce a combination die – foil and emboss in the one pass. Combination dies are handmade and significantly reduces press time on the machines.
What is embossing?
Embossing is the process of moulding the paper between a male and female die, effectively altering the structure of the substrate.
Is it real gold?
No, but real gold is readily available for gilt edging of cards.
Can you re-use foil?
Our machinery utilises controlled stepping of foil to reduce wastage of material. On some label machinery it can be used 2 or 3 times to take advantage of unused areas.
Can you stamp on UV coating?
Yes. It is job dependant and subject to surface area.
Can you foil over laminate?
Yes. It is job dependant and subject to surface area.
Can you laminate over foil?
Yes, in fact laminating over foil can give a totally different finish.
Can you emboss laminate and can we laminate after embossing?
Laminate can be embossed, images need to be designed in such a way that no small points are created to prevent laminate from lifting. If we were to try and laminate after embossing, the emboss would be crushed flat.
Is foil laser printer proof?
On the market there are some limited options available. Testing is desirable as all laser printers are different.
How are blocks made and what are they made of?
Foil and emboss blocks are made by either acid etching, CNC machining or hand engraving. Common materials are Magnesium, Brass or Copper
What kind of files should we send you?
PDF files, 100% Black converted to curves with no hidden files in background
What is the smallest sheet size you can foil?
A6 (105mm x 148mm)
What is the largest?
1,000mm x 1,450mm
